Infrared is a spectrum of light beyond that which we normally see. Infrared photography was only used in film cameras in the past, but despite having an IR blocking filter installed between the lens and the Digital Camera's Sensor, most digital cameras can still react to infrared energy, though at levels far lower than visible light. Since Kodak's famous infrared color film IR-Ektachrome (an alternative stock: Aerochrome III) was discontinued in the 's, the use of infrared (IR) photography has had to be limited to using digital equipment, or only black and white IR film. The infrared Ektachrome produces an image unparalleled to any current IR film or digital equipment.
It doesn't require special care like other type of IR films like Kodak HIE, Efke IR, Konica nm, etc. If you want to get strong IR look, a Hoya R72 filter is my recommendation. Just keep in mind, most IR filters are very dark and you'll need to use slow shutter speeds in the order of 1 second or less, so you'll need a tripod. A group for fans of Color Infrared photography and film, such as Kodak Ektachrome Color Infrared (EIR). Please include your shooting info - i.e. filters used, exposure, etc. No black+white or digital infrared please. No Lomochrome Purple shots either, please. While it can look similar, the film is not infrared. Plenty of good groups on Flickr for this film.
